Edit:I would really like some critique on this, like about the shadeing or anatomy, stuff like that. Like things I can improve on, not just "cool drawing," (not that I dont appreciate those, I love them, they encourage me but that's like all I have been getting) I need something telling me what I've done wrong and how I can fix it the next time.
's long long overdue request for getting my 4,500th pageveiw. The request was for a Belgian and I should have had no problem with this since I love drafts but, guess what....I DID!! I could not find the right horse I wanted to draw, I started like 4 other drawings and didnt like how they were going. Then finnally last night I sat down and said "ok, like it or not, I am just going to do this one...take it or leave it brain, but you may as well take it b/c here it goes!" Took the most part of 3-4 hours. And I actually really like it. I love roans, and usually belgians are chestnut and stuff, I think people forget they can be other colors.
What do you think about the bg indoor arena thing in this? Should I put top railings?, you know with the tarp in each section? I didnt think I should b/c I was afraid his head would get lost in all the works, but then it could add detail. I donno.
So anyway, thanks for waiting so long Lelly-Ice-Creamy I hope you like it.
chunky!! He's nice I LOVE the neck, and tail, and the dapples. The legs are really nice too.
I really don't know about the bg. It's great as it is... I can see why you might want to add something to the top half, maybe a light suggestion of rails? Or maybe just shade it in a medium kind of shade, so it doesn't look so white. But then that might clash with the horse. Oh I dunno. See this is why I hate bg's. LOL
Thanks a lot. Yeah I think so too, with him being a blue roan, it's hard to do a bg b/c you have his dark points, and you dont want them to get lost in a dark bg, but then you have this light body, which also cant be lost in a light bg....lol so either way you can mess it up...So i'll leave it
Ok firstly...its a cool drawing (just 2 annoy u!) Anyway......to improve this i think you could make the headcoller slightly more detailed and a bit darker.....unless its meant to be a white 1! Also, the eye is very dark in comparisson with the rest of the drawing and possibly slightly the wrong shape as the corners tend to go upwards rather than down. hope this helps
Yes it does help a lot! And I agree with you about the halter, I thought about it for a while, but it is suposed to be a white one (i always liked big drafts in the white collars) But yeah it does need more details. Thanks for the eye tips though! I actually didnt even notice it went down like that. haha.
